How the development of our game began...

Hello everyone!

We are the development team "ATrio Games," and today I want to share with u our exciting story about creating a game that immerses players in the mystical world of ancient Egypt. (The Questness: Light of Ra)

Our core team consists of three people, each of us passionate about game development and creation. Yes, we are a small group, so the process can sometimes move slower than we’d like. But this only fuels our passion and desire to create something unique!

A little over a year and a half ago, we came up with the idea to create a small game set in ancient Egypt. Initially, we thought about a "escape room" format, where players could explore just one room, completing quests and tasks to unlock the door and finish the game.

However, as we pondered this concept, we realized that such a format severely limits freedom of movement. Eventually, we decided to make a game with a story and narrative, even if it would be small.

The first to join the project was our game designer. He developed the initial game concept: crafted the story, plot, and gathered all the necessary information for the project. We created an overall concept, defined key characters, and our project smoothly transitioned from an "escape room" format to a "walking simulator." Yes, that’s right! We decided that players would be able to explore the world, dive into mythology, unravel mysteries, and, of course, safely escape this amazing place. Importantly, there will be no character deaths in the game—just exploration and adventure!

But that doesn’t mean the other team members were sitting idle. Each of us, depending on our roles, actively participated in the development. The 3D modeler was searching for references for models, while the programmer was filling in knowledge gaps about the mechanics and methods needed for the game.Based on our concept, we began assembling blocks for the location where the game’s action would unfold—the initial level design. If you’re interested, I can showcase some of this work in the next part of our story—just let me know in the comments!

Should I spoil in advance that the game concept changed 90 degrees in the future, altering its direction, scope, and format? But we’ll share more about that in the continuation of our fascinating story…
